USA shows interest in investing more in the tech-sector of Bangladesh
US businessmen have expressed interest in investing more in Bangladesh's technology sector. Representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce expressed such interest in a bilateral meeting held on Tuesday afternoon at the conference room of the Investment Development Authority (BIDA). The meeting was attended by 40 representatives of US businessmen including the representatives of the world's largest trillion-dollar US equity firm Black Stone, technology firm Meta, energy sector firm Epilaret Energy, Chevron, Eponmobil and aircraft company Boeing.
Atul Kashyap, President of America Bangladesh Business Council, led the delegation. After the meeting. He said, American companies have been working here for decades. It is helping the development of employment and GDP in this country. Still American companies are interested in investing in many sectors. American giant technology companies have invested heavily here. We are interested here in the fields of aerospace, digital economy, energy, life sciences etc. We think there is great investment opportunity here.
Regarding the discussion of the meeting, Prime Minister's Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman said, US businessmen opine that they have many opportunities in the smart Bangladesh that we want to make. They think the potential in Bangladesh is very good. US companies want to invest a lot here.
In response to a question, the advisor also said that the cross border transaction will be electronic if Smart Bangladesh does. In this, Bangladesh Bank, our import control have to coordinate them. Because this transaction is very fast. They have also been talked about.
He said, I told them. These issues are being looked at by Bangladesh Bank and ICT Ministry. We will do the same as the laws in other countries do as International best practices exist.
